Star Trek Into Darkness actor Leonard Nimoy has expressed interest in appearing in rival sci-fi franchise Star Wars.
The actor has played Spock Prime in both of Abrams’ Star Trek films, and when asked whether he would be interested in working with the director once again for the Star Wars sequel, replied: ‘Ooooh, wouldn’t that be fun? I would love to’.
Ardent Star Wars fans might be uncertain about Nimoy entering the Star Wars universe, but he insisted that he does not see there being a problem with crossover.
‘No, no. I think it would work wonderfully’, he told StarTrek.com. ‘I think it would work just great. I think it would be a great idea, and somebody ought to tell him (JJ Abrams) that.’
Star Wars: Episode VII will be written by Michael Arndt and produced by Kathleen Kennedy, the woman behind E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and the Jurassic Park trilogy.
Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford have all been linked with a return to the franchise, with Hamill previously saying that bosses will not recast their roles if the trio decide not to play Luke, Leia and Han once more.
